World class on 6 sessions per week!!!
It all started back in 1969 when I started to run. In the beginning my father,who was a quite good middle distance runner, coached me. I won my very first track race, a 1000m in 3.12.2 . When I saw the finn Lasse Viren win his olympic double in Munchen 1972 my dream became to be like him.
Many years later in 1988 I reached my best times 14:20/29.51 at 5000/10000m on the track. Unfortunately I got a severe injury and when I was at my top my career ended. For 3 years I had trouble to run without pain, but at last it became better and I won a gold as a master in the Swedish XC champs.When I was age 40 I ran my last race in Boston Marathon but it didn`t go as planned , 2.58... but I was quite pleased with my running career. The years went on and I got married and got a fine son , and that took up most of my time,happiness and efforts. I still got out for some running sometimes,but not any serious running. In 2013 I started a group at Facebook where I was looking for young runners to coach, I still had an idea left that my way of training myself with just 6 sessions per week could be useful for a very talented young runner. I wanted to prove my idea. It went on like that for a couple of years with no response , but I started to write at a Norwegian Facebook group and asked if there was a runner who wanted to test my own invented DANCAN- system to reach optimal performance. One Norwegian guy took on my challenge and in just 2½ month he lowered all his personal records from 1500m to marathon. From 4.19 down to 4.09 at 1500m, 8.59 down to 8:48 at 3000m , 1.14 at half down to 1.11 ,and the master piece of them all....marathon 2.40 down to 2.27.30!
Now the real journey had started! Kenyans started to get in contact with me for coaching and some great coaching just rolled on.....since then now 13 winners of international races . It`s just like a fairytale ! COACH J.S 🙂
